Tiny nose of softest fur
Brushes warm against my cheek
Purest love

Kitten Sittin’

Three little tinkers have me running around in circles, they wolf down their food then head off to get the only adult’s rations. Too fast for me their noses are soon in the other dish and I scoop them up and shut the door quick. Their little pink-padded paws scrabble in the litter tray, carpeting the floor all around with debris. ‘Let them have a run around’ are the instructions so, releasing them once again, they skip and roll their way along the hall, past the other dish and bowl of water which they all stick their faces in on the way by. They race up the stairs and peer at me from through the bannisters; darting in and out, their heads poke through intermittently – challenging me to join them as their furred paws pound the floorboards above my head. Then they fly back to the kitchen again to see what mischief they can get up to in there. Finally with a wistful look outside and a few tentative swings on the curtain, they run out of steam…for now.

I’m kitten sitting!

Two Word Tuesday – Black Streak

Lucky cat…

Showing us the Way

A thin beam from the torch
Barely illuminates
Our path as we try to
Follow the drive downwards.
Tarmac soon gives way to
Looser gravel; feet make
Stones skitter sideways – marking
Our passage while eyes glint
From the darkness. We turn
A corner and the steamy
Warmth of kitchen lights welcomes
Us up ahead. Dinner
With friends beckons. As we
Cross over into the
Light so does our feline

A lighthearted look at life on any given day

Art is our home. This door is open, always, to all, and yet permits not the entry of draft or rain. The doused may find solace, and repose, in the warmth of this hearth. For the sparks of these words - the spectres conjured by its incandescence - are a family whose love is unconditional, and will ever blaze, kindling within us the faith to weather these tempests. The ashes may then be scattered upon the winds - to ignite the lost, and unify our souls as one, in unquenched illumination; to be the light which guides us home, through the darkest of eclipse.
